A WEEKEND OF TRADITIONAL MUSIC EVENTS IN ROTHBURY, NORTHUMBERLAND.

Rothbury Traditional Music Festival is a small, friendly, community based music festival set in the heart of Northumberland in Rothbury in the beautiful Coquet Valley. Over the last three decades Rothbury Festival has established a unique atmosphere that has drawn musicians and singers from throughout the country and beyond to spend a weekend sharing music and experiencing the Northumbrian traditions in their natural habitat.

Chairman's Intro Watch the 2008 Festival Video

The 2008 Rothbury festival was a great success and, as I had announced beforehand, this was my last as Chairman of the festival committee. I had felt for a few years that I needed to pass the festival on to the next generation and the committee now has several energetic younger members with their own ideas for the years ahead, indeed much of the success of last year’s 30th anniversary festival was down to them.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, from committee members to stewards, judges, doorkeepers, performers, and of course our fantastically friendly audience who have made the festival such a unique event over the years. I am sure there will be many fantastic festivals in the years to come and wish the new committee all the very best with their efforts. I hope to be there to enjoy the festival and participate myself in the future.

Alistair Anderson
Chairman, Rothbury Traditional Music Festival.
